I wrote this when my eldest was still tiny, I was struggling with life in generally; feeling overwhelmed, and somehow unwanted, being a mum was hard and I didn’t believe I was capable. There’s a lot of that time I don’t remember, maybe for good reasons.
So when I tell you I don’t remember writing this, I mean it, no recollection whatsoever. I clearly wrote it about my eldest, her early years although it fits with my youngest too. So here it is, I hope you like it.Little finger prints on walls
Marking out where hands have been
Flowers, trees and little “me’s”
Her wonderland there on display
Magic seen in everything
Fascinating and so new
Cheeky trouble in her eyes
The mess a small price to pay Time to clean now troubles done
Chaos showing where she was
Silence falls and all slows down
Fast asleep and calm she lays.
